CHRIST IN YOU MAKES YOU ALIVE
20/04/24 13:37
Don’t be among those who talk the Spirit and live the law. Christ your life is life in the Spirit. It has substance because Christ has come in our flesh. As a son/daughter you are an expression of Christ.
The oneness of God as the trinity has been deployed in the enterprise of the salvation of us. Deployed to draw us into the oneness that is God’s being. We have a real fellowship with God in His three persons, and we do well to enjoy the companionship of each member of the trinity.
WHOLENESS OF BEING
God is not three Gods, neither is God one amorphous person. God is certainly not an abstraction or an unmoved mover. And He is not the law. The I AM of God is the God of belonging and less the god of moralism, for it is the belonging and the oneness of God as God that draws us into God’s communion of holiness and the joy of living. Our oneness with God becomes the person of us who becomes fruitful and righteous. When cripples asked Jesus to make them whole, their body was not just seeking to walk without a limp. The hearts of those in Jesus’ presence sensed that here was one who would give them wholeness of being by restoring them to communion with their Origins.
TRIUNE
The nature of God is the triune togetherness of His being. The salvation of God is the deployment of the trinity to draw us into this communion. The result of the cross is that we have been made one with God’s oneness. Baptised into His being we find forgiveness, healing and the recreation of our persons into the sons/daughters we were born to be.
PRIZE OF THE INCARNATION
“While God may be known by us only out of himself, we may not have knowledge of him except at a point of access which is both in our creaturely existence and in God himself. This is precisely what we have in the incarnation, where God’s self-revelation as Father takes place through his self-giving to us in Jesus Christ his Son and in the Holy Spirit who, as the Spirit of the Father and of the Son, constitutes with them the Communion of the Holy Trinity.” (1) This Communion lives in you and reveals itself to you.
ONE SUBSTANCE WITH CHRIST
Godliness reaches out to us in Jesus Christ, who in Himself draws us into the communion of the trinity. Thus ‘holy Communion’ is less lamenting the cross and more seeing it as Christ making God one substance with us. We do better to take our beliefs from Jesus, the apostles teaching and the Creeds than from ‘Johnny-come-lately’ alterations and additions that dilute the effect of the cross. They suffocate the incarnation and make religion out of overcoming the separation from God that no longer exists. ‘He has made the two one.’ Love and obedience are our living in this oneness.
